Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc

Lacoste-Borie is the “second” wine of Grand-Puy-Ducasse and is the most favoured claret consumed throughout the gentlemen’s clubs of London. It is also highly regarded within the wine trade as a rare example of quality Pauillac at a very drinkable price!  Traditional Grand Cru Classé winemaking based on quality not cost i.e. hand picking, prized terroir, 3 weeks maceration and 15 months in French oak results in a wine of purity and elegance.

From the critically acclaimed 2020 Bordeaux vintage, this wine is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc. The latter amounting to the Borie family’s entire production for the year , as none made it into the 2020 Grand Puy-Lacoste!

Dark ruby in colour, this wine has a super developed nose of ripe fruits, spice and toast. On the palate rich ripe fruit of blackcurrants and black cherries supported by charming tannins resulting in a wine of balance and polish.
One of the more potent and powerful second wines with excellent capacity to give great value as well as enjoyment.   Just starting its drinking life now but for claret lovers a wine that is hard to resist drinking now! Perfect for roast dinners, leather chairs and cigars!
