You are reading this because you are interested in wine, so you may well have drunk a lot of Muscadet in your time but have you ever drunk a Cru Clisson Muscadet?  It’s a bit like moving up to driving a Ferrari rather than a standard family saloon car!
Cru Clisson is a small designated area of special granite terroir around the village of the same name. As a designated “cru communale” there are strict rules on both the growing and vinification producing exceptional wines. Total production of Cru Clisson is less than 1% of all Muscadet and it offers some of the best value to be found in any French wines.
Domaine de l’Epinay, a family vineyard since 1900, is now run by two brothers, Cyrille and Sylvain Paquereau. Organic vines over 70 years old, natural yeasts and maturation in underground vats , with the wine on it’s lees for around 3 years results in something very special!
Pale yellow in colour with green reflections, the nose is an explosion of citrus fruits, quince and lychees. A richly textured palate with a delightful length of mineral fruits and aromatic complexity – ” like biting into a crisp Granny Smith apple whilst smoking a Havana cigar” as described by one of our clients. The cork not to be pulled until 4 years after the vintage and the wine will benefit from opening an hour before serving. A very versatile wine that works as an aperitif, with all things fishy, white meats and chosen cheeses.  Drink now – 2030
