One of the founding domains in Ventoux ( originally called Dom. Ribas la Font doú Téule) was thankfully re-named Domaine Vintur when new owners came along in 2011 and began their investment programme. This is now very much “a Domaine to keep an eye on” according to Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 2015. Le Gentleman is a special cuvée made in homage to all those that have completed the famous Tour de France stage – the ascent and descent of Mont Ventoux!
Grapes selected from the oldest vines and fermented in stainless steel. Ageing is then a combination of amphora, stainless steel and old oak barrels for 20 months and a further 6 months in bottle before release, to give a wine of succulence and complexity.
Le Gentleman is an organic wine and only made in the best years, so no 2013 or 2014 for example.
Blackcurrant berries leading to spiced ripe forest fruits sprinkled with hints of white pepper and garrigue. In the mouth subtle tannins, opulent fruits, creamy liquorice and with a long elegant finish.
For all big flavoured dishes or even to savour on its own before a summer BBQ or in winter in front of the fire.
