Riesling
Alsace is the place to go for world class dry Riesling — in fact it is the only region in France where it is allowed to grow! A beautiful part of the world and most definitely should be high on your “must visit wine place” bucket list.
This dry Riesling comes from a stunning property and vineyard in the famous Riquewihr village that has been in the Klack family since 1628. It is now run by Daniel Klack on a biodynamic basis, respecting the environment whilst successfully combining both traditional and modern practices. Daniel’s Riesling is fermented in 120 year old oak casks followed by 12 months “sur lie” for added complexity.
Bottled in the traditional Alsace flute, the wine is pale gold with enticing aromas of tropical fruits and citrus peel. Clean and fresh with racy tangs of lemon, lime and green apples. Medium bodies with good length the wine shows both finesse and complexity. Rarely found in blends, Riesling is one of the few grape varieties that are complete in themselves needing no improvement from blending with other varieties.
An extremely food friendly wine that goes well with everything from a light salad to a big Asian meal. Drink at around 15C (room temperature in the 18th century) so not straight from the refrigerator!
