Chateau Mangot has a long history on the right bank of Bordeaux that goes all the way back to 1546. However, the modern era began in 1976 when the Todeschini family bought the property and began the transformation into the powerhouse it is today.  The brothers Karl and Yann Todeschini, who now run the business, are great exponents of achieving that difficult task of marrying past traditions with modern techniques. Ch. Mangot is now certified organic and currently in conversion to biodynamic status and this wine is a testament to the scale of their ambitions.
They began trying to make this wine in 2011 and finally succeeded in producing 9,000 bottles in 2019. L’Autre Mangot is made “sans soufre”
(without sulphur) using wild yeasts and matured for 8 months in amphorae and terra cotta jars. 100% Cabernet Franc from old vines produces a wine that is an explosion of pure red fruits, powerful yet elegant and well balanced.  So very different and unexpected!
We are excited to track this “other Mangot” wine to see how it progresses over the next 5 to 10 years – it is a real Star Trek type of wine as who knows where it will go!
