Pouilly Fumé, La Loge Aux Moines (Monopole) Dom. Patrice Moreux 2014

November 13, 2014

Sauvignon Blanc

Sometimes you have to just pay the money and try the best of something – and for lovers of elegant Sauvignon Blanc this is it!
A “monopole” or “sole ownership of a famous vineyard plot” is rare in the Loire valley. The Moreux family are the proud owners of La Loges aux Moines , a 4.5 hectare plot received as a wedding dowry many decades ago.  This special parcel of land is possibly the first to have been planted with Sauvignon Blanc vines by the Benedictine monks during the 11th century and produces wine that just has to be experienced.
Worldwide acknowledgments and big scores from Wine Spectator, Decanter, Gilbert & Gaillard and Robert Parker all mean that this wine can be found on many top tables around the globe.
“Brioche notes wrapped around a a core of citrus oil, grapefruit pulp and white peach. A light smoky hint weaves through the creamy finish. Alluring”
“Floral notes of acacia, grapefruit and lemon rind. Lively, full and refreshing with classic zip of acidity.
“An exciting mix of ripe pears , melon, and spices, it cascades with persistence over a stony citrus finish.
Try it and make your own mind up – you know it makes sense!
