Grenache Noir, Syrah, Carignan
The Panis family have been growing grapes and making wine from this property on the outskirts of the medieval city of Carcassonne for around 500 years. Originally a sound engineer for theatre and rock concerts, Jean Panis took over the estate from his father in 1996 to continue the family traditions but also to combine with the best of modern wine-making techniques.
Jean’s wines have real Southern French character and represent some of the best that Minervois can offer. Not surprisingly they are frequently referenced in the French “wine bible” the Guide Hachette and in Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.
A blend of Grenache with around 30% Syrah and 10% Carignan, this ruby red wine offers smoky spice and ripe fruit aromas. Full and luscious on first tasting with juicy black fruits, liquorice, white pepper spices and soft, velvety tannins.  Well balanced with good length and mouth watering flavour that makes you go back for more! Very food friendly but also enjoyable on it’s own or with whatever your personal choice of dish is for a very drinkable good red wine.
Leave the dreary supermarket stuff alone—try hand crafted Minervois from Chateau de Bagnoles for a pleasant surprise!
