Graves Blanc, Château de Respide Callipyge 2018 (6b case)

Graves Blanc, Château de Respide Callipyge 2018 (6b case)

Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon

From one of the oldest wine making Chateau in Graves (built in the 17th century for a minister of King Louis XIV) comes Franck Bonnet’s stunning award winning white wine, Callipyge Blanc.
One of the favourite white wines of family friend and regular visitor Henri de Toulouse- Lautrec (the famous artist of Moulin Rouge and other Parisienne nightlife).  Callipyge in Greek means “beautiful buttocks” and Venus Callipyge herself appears on the label and even on the attractive wooden case.
A classic Bordeaux blend of  60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Semillon from old vines, aged in oak for 9 months (50% new) produces a pale golden yellow wine of interest and intrigue. A complex bouquet of exotic friuts, vanilla, and fresh toast leads to a harmonious taste sensation of honeyed lemons, mangoes and peach. Full in the mouth, complex with a long lingering finish. This is a serious wine for both “drinking and thinking”.
This wine is a favourite with many Sommeliers – perfect with  fish, sushi, white meats, exotic foods and most cheeses. Whilst just starting it’s drinking life in 2020, this wine will evolve wonderfully over the forthcoming  years.
A beautiful wine that takes you into the decadent Parisienne nightclubs of yesteryear.
