Touraine Gamay
Dom. de la Perdrielle 2009

Gamay
If you like Gamay, then forget Beaujolais for a change and try this speciality from the Loire. Only produced in small quantities by the father and son team of Jacques & Vincent Gandon, this is a wine of freshness and soft fruits for summer days and al fresco evenings.
A beautiful cherry red colour, silky smooth with lots of red fruit aromas combined with hints of violets and light pepper. This is real bottled sunshine perfect for those long summer BBQ's. Only 12% alcohol with nicely balanced acidity makes this wine a welcome change from some of the 14.5% blockbusters of the New World and south of France.
Drink lightly chilled, this is very enjoyable on it's own but also goes well with most spicey dishes and matches tomatoes better than most Italian wines.
Aptly described by one of our clients as "Cherryade for grown ups"!

Touraine AOC
Dom. Rablais Cabernet d'antan 2007

Cabernet Franc
Traditional Loire style 100% Cabernet Franc from a tiny organic parcel of 30 year old vines within the Simoneau family estate near Chenonceau. In a good year the maximum production is only 5,000 bottles so we feel very privileged that the family have allowed us an allocation.
Aged in oak barrels, the wine is full of rich, pulpy redcurrant fruit, balanced with light tannins. A versatile food wine that may well surprise you and which cries out for meats in rich sauces or a strong fromage chevre!

Saumur Champigny
Domaine de la Cune 2008

Cabernet Franc
Delicious young, this is an elegant wine with supple tannins that will age gracefully over the next ten years. A brilliant ruby on the eye, with a primary nose of intense redcurrant, ripe cherry and blackberry. The exquisite balance of fruit and acidity combines with soft tannins to reveal a rich, fruit laden finish. Saumur-Champigny wines enjoy a prestige status in France and for decades have been widely consumed in the celebrated brasseries and bistros of Paris.

Serve very lightly chilled if you prefer-  for the French this is the red wine for summer-time lunch!

Côtes du Rhône Villages Séguret
Cuvée Tradition 2007
Domaine de Moucheron

Carignan,Grenache,Syrah
The 2007 Rhône vintage has been described as "perfect" by many winemakers and certainly the best since 1990. This blockbuster wine produced by a Scotsman living halfway up a mountain in southern France demands attention whilst sitting down!
Packed with juicy red and black fruits it is approachable now but will benefit from a few more years in the bottle. The ripe fruit flavours and great finish make this wine man enough to take on any hearty casseroles or strong cheeses.
A "Crocodile Dundee" wine with added sophistication from France!

Anjou-Villages Brissac
Chateau La Varière Vielles Vignes 2007
Cabernet Franc (Breton),Cabernet Sauvignon
At Ch. la Varière, just south of Angers in the Loire valley, Jacques Beaujeau produces award winning wines - this a Gold Medal at the internationally renowned Angers Salon des Vins de Loire.
This is about as far north as Cabernet Sauvignon can go and when combined with the local Breton, as Cabernet Franc is known in the Loire, things get really interesting. Add in old vines, manual harvesting, low yields and 12 months in oak barrels and you have a wine to experience!
Deep, very ripe Burlat cherry in colour with a complex bouquet of very ripe red and black fruits. On the palate fleshy at first with a plummy medium finish showing touches of vanilla and spice.  Powerful, yet well balanced, this wine is drinking well now but will undoubtedly improve over the next few years.
Excellent with all red meats and savoury sauces, this is a wine to impress your dinner guests!

Givry 1er Cru 2007
Côte Chalonnaise
Clos de Servoisine, Domaine Deliance

Pinot Noir
Here is a seriously good example of Burgundian excellence reflecting outstanding value for money. Since taking over at Dracy-Le-Fort the Deliance brothers have been passionate about improving quality and this 1er Cru wine, made from grapes of the prized but small Clos de Servoisine terroir is testament to their success.
The colour is truly superb, shining like some fabulous jewel. Silky and supple tannins as you would expect and a finish with hints of blackberry and subtle strawberry fruit flavours that only Burgundy can supply.
Ideal with feathered game, charcuterie and duck with red cherries!
